"Am I Enough Yet?" Original Acrylic Painting on Canvas
This original, one-of-a-kind artwork is acrylic paint on stretched canvas.
I also used crayon, pencil and ink during the process.
A Word From The Artist...
Honestly, I painted "Am I Enough Yet?" mostly as a reminder for myself.
We are living in a strange time (in my opinion). There is a huge movement telling us as women that we should be ourselves and embrace our flaws. This is a movement I am FULLY behind! As I mother of two little girls I want nothing more than for them to grow up loving themselves, but when we are bombarded constantly with images, videos and conversation in the 'real world' about how we can 'better' or 'fix' ourselves it seems less and less likely. The polarity between the two ideals is dizzying, and it's no wonder that we're left dissecting every inch of ourselves in the pursuit of someone else's version of perfect.
For me this painting is like a shopping list of all the things I've debated having done, despite being the same woman that sees other women as perfect because of their 'flaws'. Why do I have such a double standard when it comes to myself?
I've spoken to a lot of women who feel the same way. They see only beauty in others but the mirror is full of things that they think need changing.
I hope this piece of art help to remind all you lovely ladies out there that you are enough! And the next time you question that, look at this print and ask yourself who's standard of beauty you're beating yourself up over.
This fine art print is real, somewhat painful, but necessary. I love her because she is enough, and she helps me to remember that I Am Enough Too.
